Meghan Markle’s passion for the 40×40 initiative encourages Melissa McCarthy to participate and expressed interest in the mentorship program.
Last week, Melissa was featured in a video with the duchess for the 40×40 initiative. The duo inspired women to offer 40 minutes of mentorship to other women re-entering the workforce.
The 50-year-old actress remarked that this is an amazing opportunity to encourage women during an interview with ET. “I’m impressed and inspired by her. I love [when] someone chooses to lead their life the way they want to and give their children the life they want to give them.”
“It’s her 40th, [I was wondering,] ‘What fun thing does she want?’ and instead she’s like, ‘How can I get more people to help other women that need help?'” McCarthy recalled about Markle. “I was like, ‘That’s what we need. We need a billion more people like that in the world to do that, to take a little bit of time, then you can really help somebody.'”
“She’s like, ‘That’s how I would like to celebrate my 40th,’ and I was like, ‘Sign me up,'” the actress added. “How do you not want to do that?”
Melissa McCarthy’s Thoughtful Gift To Meghan Markle
Meghan turned 40 on August 4th, 2021. Melissa thought the best way to gift the duchess was to be a part of an initiative that will help and encourage women.
The actress contributed her time with the intent to help Meghan with the 40×40 women’s leadership program. The duchess reacting to this act of kindness said that this is exactly how she envisioned celebrating her 40th.
Melissa McCarthy on Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers
Apart from the social appeal video with Meghan, Melissa is promoting her latest series “Nine Perfect Strangers.” The limited series will be streaming on Hulu on August 18th, 2021.
“It’s something that I feel like when I’m 90 someone is gonna be like, ‘What do you mean quarantine?’ You get put in a hotel room by the military and they said, ‘See ya in 15 days, don’t screw up.’ And you were like, ‘You got it!'” she quipped. “It’s wild… You go a little wacko. All worth it.”
“She goes, ‘I have to stay in it because otherwise I’m gonna sound like an Aussie when I’m doing it,'” McCarthy said of the Australian actress. “She was really good about staying in it, which I totally get. She’s like ‘Oh God, if I keep going back and forth I’ll lose my mind.'”
“It didn’t seem weird,” McCarthy added. “… When you would hear her real accent I was like, ‘Oh God, that’s right.'”
The eight-part series is based on the book of the same name by author Liane Moriarty. Melissa will play the role of Francis, an unsuccessful romance novelist. Melissa’s character will be part of eight additional characters at a wellness resort center for transformation.
