Ellen DeGeneres’ wife Portia de Rossi has always supported the host. Recently, she opened up about DeGeneres’ state of mind after the 62-year-old comedian’s show went under the fire.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show was accused by some of the former employees for being absolutely toxic. However, the investigation is still going on. “[She’s] doing great,” the 47-year-old actress said on Aug. 9. She was spotted walking her dogs in Barbara, California by Page Six.
Reporters asked de Rossi if DeGeneres is going to continue working on the show to which she replied, “Yes”. The Emmy winner received huge backlash in July following the article posted on BuzzFeed that consist of allegations regarding fear, racism, sexual misconduct behind the scenes, and intimidation.
After the show received so many claims by the former employees, Warner Bros. started an internal investigation regarding the claims and informed the current and former employees about the same. DeGeneres addressed the issue through a letter and forwarded to all the staff members, which was circulated in the media outlet on July 30.
“On day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be a place of happiness — no one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect,” she wrote in part. “Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry. Anyone who knows me knows it’s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show.”
de Rossi also supported her through social media where she posted a graphic that reads “I Stand by Ellen”. However, the producers of the show confirmed that the show will go on.
“They know that Ellen can be tough but accept that about her and know that it takes a lot of work to run a tight ship like her show,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly of the Finding Dory star’s A-list pals. “They get it.” For more updates, keep watching this space.
