Meghan Markle was understandably furious about her family members making “absurd claims” involving her relationship with Prince Harry. This claim has been made in the recently published book dubbed, “Finding Freedom,” which is written by royal reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand.
Several insiders divulged details about what triggered the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to step down as senior members of the British royal family. The couple is currently holed up in California (Markle’s native) with their son Archie amid the still-raging coronavirus pandemic.
The 39-year-old former Suits star was stunned when her estranged half-sister Samantha Markle decided to start speaking to tabloids when they allegedly, didn’t grow up, and Meghan barely saw her since they were children, UK’s Daily Mail reported. In the book, one of Meghan’s close friends accused Samantha of trying to pretend she was much closer to Meghan than she really was.
“That’s not the case. Meg didn’t grow up with Samantha. She barely saw her,” the confidant told the outlet. Meghan was “weirded out” when Samantha tried to deliver a letter to Kensington Palace asking for a face-to-face meeting, but the letter was dropped off at the wrong security gate, the outlet suggests.
Samantha was not the only one who left Meghan bewildered. Her estranged half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., wrote an open letter to Prince Harry claiming the couple wasn’t a good fit. As if that weren’t enough, he went on to accuse the Duchess of Sussex of leaving her father, former Hollywood lighting director Thomas Markle, “forgotten, alone and bankrupt.”
Moreover, the siblings told the press that they weren’t even invited to the royal wedding. “It’s such a joke. Of course, they care now that she’s marrying a prince,” a source told the authors. Markle and Harry tied the wedding knot in 2018.
