Puri Jagannadh’s Pan-India film Liger, featuring Ananya Panday, and Vijay Deverakonda has a release date.

According to the film’s team, Liger will be hitting screens worldwide on Sept. 9 this year. The hotly-anticipated film is produced by Charmme Kaur and Puri Jagannadh for Puri Connects and Karan Johar for Dharma Productions.

Before the pandemic shuttered most industries, including the film industry, shooting for Liger was in progress in Mumbai, with clips and photos of Vijay and Ananya on a bike taking social media by storm. While several films resumed shooting after unlock, the film’s team decided to put it off till now.

A new shooting schedule for the film was commenced on Thursday. Touted to be an action-packed love story, Liger is Vijay Deverakonda’s first Pan-India film and Puri’s next after the well-received and commercially successful iSmart Shankar. In the first look of the film, Vijay was seen with unruly hair and with boxing gloves on, however, the announcement poster shows him with a stick in hand.

In the background, the actor is seen fighting with someone in a boxing ring. In a bid to prep for the role, Vijay had to train in mixed martial arts. The film will see cinematography by Vishnu Sarma, but details about its music composer are still scarce, Times of India reported.

Ramya Krishnan will be playing a prominent role in the film that will be made in Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu. In addition to the trio, Liger also stars Getup Srinu, Makarand Desh Pandey, Aali, Vishu Reddy, and Ronit Roy in key roles. Stay tuned to WittyScoop for further details.
