Taylor Swift is on the verge of releasing her tenth album, Midnights. As expected, there’s a lot of hype around this new album.

The album concludes with a song in which the global pop sensation is explaining to someone that kismet did not play a vital role in their intimate relationship. In fact, it was the outcome of a design.

“I laid the groundwork,” she sings, “and then just like clockwork the dominoes cascaded in a line.” This tune is called Mastermind. Swift appears to be describing a romance in the song.

“No one wanted to play with me as a little kid,” she sings towards the end of Mastermind. “So I’ve been scheming like a criminal ever since to make them love me and make it seem effortless.”

For those unaware, Midnights is Swift’s 10th studio full-length and comprises a 13-track set, which she produced in collaboration with creative partner Jack Antonoff.

To recap, Swift spent 2021 rerecording her albums “Fearless” and “Red” in a bid to create new versions of the LPs she partially lost control of when her old record label changed hands, as per a report by LA Times.

Midnights starts with an R&B-adjacent, Lavender Haze, in which the songstress talks about the scrutiny she is under as a famous person dating another famous person (English actor Joe Alwyn).

In Anti-Hero, Swift highlights the public’s harshest opinions of her. She admits that she feels like “a monster on the hill … slowly lurching toward your favorite city.”

Meanwhile, Karma targets music executive Scooter Braun, who was behind the label purchase that led to Swift’s rerecording enterprise. “Spiderboy, king of thieves / Weave your little webs of opacity,” she sings.“Karma is my boyfriend / Karma is a god / Karma is the breeze in my hair on the weekend.”

Midnight Rain, on the other hand, is a slow number that revolves around a girl and a boy with different life goals. In Maroon, a guy and girl get drunk.

Vigilante S— is about a woman who helps a betrayed wife get revenge on her husband. Swift refers to herself as “the wind in our free-flowing sails” in Mastermind.
