90 Day Fiance star Sumit Singh allegedly blocked his marriage to his American fiance Jenny Slatten behind her back.
Much to Sumit Singh’s chagrin, no more obstacles are restricting him from tying the knot to Jenny Slatten. On Sunday’s episode of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, the American meemaw was eager to marry since his parents finally gave them their permission to tie the knot.
Moreover, Jenny’s visa was running out to stay in India. Interestingly, Sumit seemed hesitant when it came to moving forward.
Astrologer Permits Jenny & Sumit To Marry
Sumit visited his family astrologer with Jenny. Much to Sumit’s chagrin, the astrologer claimed that the stars were aligned for them to get married within nine months. Jenny was ready to head straight to the courthouse and initiate the paperwork.
However, Sumit claims that he is still traumatized from his first marriage, which led to him getting a divorce. “We fought for this, for nine years,” he told the cameras about his relationship with Jenny.
“We fought everything. I got married, I got divorced. I go through all this trouble just to get married to Jenny, just to be with Jenny, and when the actual time come, now I’m scared of marrying. But this is the way I feel.”
Why Is Sumit Hesitant to Marry Jenny?
According to Sumit, Jenny would tell him that she will go back to the US every time she would get mad at him. I don’t want to be part of any marriage, I don’t want to go to court,” he said.
“Divorce changed me as a person. The person I was before and now, it’s a big difference,” Sumit added.
However, Jenny assured him that she will never leave him. “I’m not going anywhere, you couldn’t get rid of me if you tried,” she told him. “I love you so much. I love you more than anything. … I will never stop loving you. I will never leave you.”
Sumit and Jenny then visited a lawyer, who made them fill the paperwork to start the marriage procedure. Sumit thought they were only meeting the lawyer to get more information.
“I feel like I’m on a speeding train and I can’t jump out of it,” he told the cameras.
Jenny’s Has A Different Reaction
“I’m excited and happy right now,” Jenny told the cameras. “This is the first step to starting our marriage process.” Later in the episode, Sumit spoke to his close friend, Neeraj about his marriage fears.
However, Neeraj took Jenny’s side, noting that she has already sacrificed a lot to be with him. Aside from that, he noted that Sumit’s first marriage was an arranged marriage, so it is wrong to compare his situation with Jenny to his experience in his first marriage.
Dropping the bombshell, Sumit admits that he actually privately called the lawyer after their meeting and urged him to hold off on filing any marriage paperwork. As expected, Neeraj was shocked and told Sumit that he was doing wrong and it would break Jenny’s trust.
In fact, Neeraj said Sumit was “being a jerk.” “I didn’t tell Jenny I put the marriage on hold because I didn’t want to hurt her because I know that she wants to get married as soon as possible,” Sumit told cameras.
“If she gonna hear that I put the marriage on hold, she gonna get mad, she gonna get hurt, and I don’t wanna do that. It’s really scary when I think about it, to tell Jenny that I’m not ready for the marriage right now. This could spoil our relationship … this could be the end of the relationship, and I don’t want that to happen.”
In next week’s episode, Sumit reveals what he told the lawyer, and Jenny walks out in anger.
“If I want Sumit to know how serious I am, then probably I should go,” she says.
“I’m not going anywhere,” Jenny told ET. “I’m here with Sumit whether he marries me or not. I’ve been with him for nine years already, I’m not going anywhere. We love each other and, you know, we’ll be together whatever way it has to be. I’ll be with him.”
“In love you have to push your limit,” Sumit joked, before getting serious about what has kept him and Jenny together. “I always feel like we love each other. The best thing is we listen to each other whenever it’s required and we understand.”
