Sumit Explains Why His Mom Blames Him For Losing Another Daughter

’90 Day Fiance’: Sumit Explains Why He Gets Blamed For His Sister’s Death

90 Day Fiance star Sumit Singh has opened up about the tragic death of his sister, and how it has affected his mother.

According to Sumit Singh, a trauma in his family has drastically affected his relationship with his mother, Sahna. In an exclusive clip from Sunday’s episode of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way shared by ET, Sumit tells Jenny Slatten that his sister died when she was eight months old.

Sumit’s sister was a year and a half younger than him. The former call center employee told his American girlfriend that his mother has lingering resentment towards him. To recall, Sumit and his mother have been fighting over his relationship with Jenny.

Sahna threatened suicide if Sumit married Jenny because there’s a 29-year age difference between Jenny and Sumit. Even after Jenny and Sumit got engaged, his parents refuse to accept Jenny as their daughter-in-law. Last week, Sahna and Sumit’s father, Anil told their son that Jenny can’t attend their family celebrations.

Sumit’s Mother Liked His Ex-Wife

Sumit explained that his mother has been missing a daughter in her life after his sister succumbed to jaundice. Moreover, his split from his first wife made things worse. Sumit said that Sahna liked his first wife, and wanted to do things with her that she couldn’t do with her daughter.

“My mother blamed me for losing another daughter when I get divorce,” Sumit also told cameras. “Sometimes it makes me feel like my mother is taking revenge. Like, she is mad at me because she’s not happy she lost a girl she had a connection with.

“So maybe this explain that’s why my mom don’t like Jenny because she like, consider Jenny as like one who helped me in order to get divorced.”

Back in Aug., ET spoke to the 90 Day Fiance couple. Sumit told the publication that it ever came down to it, he would marry Jenny despite his parents’ opposition.

“I keep on trying as much as I can,” Sumit said about his attempts to convince his parents to accept Jenny as their daughter-in-law. “After all that, after I feel like I’ve put in all the effort to convince them and show them how happy I am with Jenny and that’s what I want in my life, after that if they don’t understand then, no point in that, I think I will go ahead and marry Jenny.”

He went to say that he will not stop fighting for his and Jenny’s relationship. “In order to get love, I need to stay strong and keep explaining, keep fighting for love, keep showing people that we are happy and that’s most important,” he said. 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on TLC.
