“1000-Lb. Sisters” Amy Slaton (Halterman) revealed that she is willing to quit the show due to the stressful filming schedule, noting that she feels like a bad mother when she is at work.

“I’ve been on the show for three years. At first, it was easy, but now that I have Gage it’s like, he doesn’t want me out of his sight,” the 34-year-old told The Sun on Wednesday. “I feel like I’m being a bad mom when I’m at work. He’s always at granny’s when we’re filming and stuff. I feel like I’m losing valuable time.”

Amy is expecting her second baby with her husband Michael Halterman.

“I don’t really want to do another season because I’m pregnant, it’s just a lot. If they cut down my hours I’ll be probably fine,” she continued. “I like the crew most, filming can be stressful, you’re there all day and you have to say stuff over and over again. I love the relationship with the crew. But it’s stressful right now, he [Gage] needs a lot of attention.”

She further recalled filming the last season of the show.

“Last season I was working every day for weeks, plus renovating a house, plus Gage, plus Tammy [Slaton], plus my mom,” she said. “It was just a lot last year and I can’t do it. I can’t discuss how much I get paid, but that’s my main job and posting videos on YouTube.”

She also noted that she has no clue when the next season will start filming as she is waiting to hear back from the network.

  1. Amy I admire you very much. How many people would hire someone to teach them to clean house to keep your child safe? How many people would hire a nutricionist to teach them how to feed their child? You have done more to make yourself a better parent than anyone I know.

More than that, your interaction with Gage on tv is so heartwarming. It is definitely a lost art, this motherhood thing. But you show me and other watchers of your show, that you have a special relationship with your son. He’s lucky to have you and your husband as parents. I love that you are buying a home to raise him in and congratulations on that. I know what you feel of wanting him to have ‘a forever home.’ You love your child is unconditionally and everyone can see that.

As far as negative comments about your child rearing, please let them roll of your back. These people are so sad and jealous of your relationship. The relationship with you’re whole family is touching. I see the love between you all. It is so good to see you all so close.

Amy there are going to be lots of comments. Be strong. You’re an awesome mom, sister and wife. You started the ‘1000 lb Sisters’ and it could be seen as weakness if you quit. Don’t let the negative comments weaken you.

  2. Amy loved that you showed awareness to go to a pediatric dietitian I see that as a great subject Togo forward with Gage and help audience awareness and bring babies more into the series would be a good example for mom’s bottom line is you have to do what’s best for you and your family I could sure see that you are over tiered with stress right now and probably not the best time to make a final decision. I do worry about Tammy and wonder her being on the show keeping her in the same vicious cycle?? Al the best whatever your decision ????

  3. Amy shows what a wonderful mom she is every episode. I hope she doesn’t quit. I know thetes sacrifices but im sure her son knows he’s so loved… millions of moms go to work to pave a better life for their children’s future. Amy is too hard on herself….

  4. In my Comment above, I said Tammy, but I meant “Amy” Please edit my comment, and put the name “Amy” where I said Tammy. As it doesn’t allow me to Edit.
    Thank You,

  5. Amy is a smart young woman and knows how she feels. It would be a shame to end the series, as its so well liked. Perhaps Amy could work shorter hours filming to maybe cut the number of shows in each series. Or, she could look for a good Baby Sitter for Gage through their or a local church. Church ladies and sitters are just like moms. Very down to earth and very kind. But don’t end the series. There has been some good build ups in it, and again, it’s very well liked!! You can do this Amy. Look at all your Baby sitting options. All babies go through wanting mommies all the time. But it’s just a stage and with the right church sitter, filled with Love, he will be satisfied and the show can go on. Also pray on this Amy. God answers prayer. Maybe ask him to guide you to a good babysitter for Gage. And he will!!

  6. Nooo Amy you can’t quit I love you & you’re not a bad mom!! If you weren’t doing this you would have to work anyway, please don’t quit!! Love you bunches Amy !! Always a friend Holly Woods

  7. I feel she is being a good mom. He has to get use to being with other people, especially since she is expecting another baby. Hopefully, they can cut down on her hrs. She did great by seeing a dietitian for
gage. I like her on the show..

Tammy. Your a Great Mama. I totally understand where your coming from. But you are letting others bother you. Dont let them. Gage is so well loved by you and Michael. I don’t know if I’m making since or not. But you are loved and the whole family as well. Maybe they can make it all about Chris and Tammy Amanda. Misty. And you once and while. We want to see the new baby too. I wish you all the best of luck.
