The rumor mill has been churning out speculations about The Bachelor‘s Lock Gilbert and his winner Irena Srbinovska’s split for quite some time now, but is there credence to the gossip?
Gilbert has assured The Bachelor fans that the rumors are absolutely baseless. The 31-year-old was promoting apartments in Perth when one of his followers raised questions about his relationship status, particularly if he was still with Irena, 31.
“Somethings [sic] not right! Can’t tag Irena, I hope you 2 are okay? “ the follower wrote.
Gilbert had understandably not tagged Irena in the picture, considering she wasn’t in it, but this sparked rumors about their split. Debunking these speculations, Locky responded: “We are better than ever.”
Irena chimed in, “Happy to report that we are still very much in love and together.”
Reality TV website The Wash later explained that Irena’s privacy settings are set on the highest level, meaning, she can’t be tagged in posts. After announcing they are officially dating, Locky and Irena have been posting a lot of loved-up photos to their Instagram accounts, with Locky calling Irena his “future wife, baby Mumma and best friend.”
“I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with you,” Locky wrote. “Here is to one crazy adventure and so so many more with you babe.”
Aside from debunking rumors about their breakup, the couple has addressed the awkwardness of Locky confessing to the runner-up, Bella Varelis, that he was in love with her too.
“Locky and I actually discussed the finale right after we finished filming,” Irena told Mamamia’s daily entertainment podcast, The Spill. Speaking at the podcast after the finale aired, Irena admitted that it took a bit of time to process it all.
The 31-year-old said it was hard for her to see the guy she is in love with telling another woman that he is in love with her, adding that they had some time to process it and talk about the incident. Noting that Locky was just being honest with his emotions, Irena said she can’t fault him for that.
Unlike earlier Bachelor couples, the pair were separated after filming the finale due to the coronavirus pandemic. In an interview with Mamamia, Irena revealed that they were apart for a couple of months and it was difficult but said that was the situation with border restrictions and a still-raging coronavirus pandemic.
Irena said they tried their best to be in contact with one another, through non-stop phone calls, video calls, and texting.” I think we’ve come out of it stronger,” she added.
Before relocating to the Locky’s hometown of Perth, the couple is currently hiking around New South Wales. Irena will continue her work as a nurse after moving to Perth. TL;DR? Locky and Irena are still together and rumors about their breakup aren’t true.
