Duo of actor-producer Shah Rukh Khan and director Farah Khan once again came up with a blockbuster film this Diwali, “Happy New Year” (HNY), which is receiving mixed reviews from viewers and critics as well.
Within two days of its release, the film earned Rs. 80 crore from domestic box office and will definitely cross Rs 100 crore in India by Sunday. Shah Rukh Khan’s name is enough for any movie to be a super hit and Happy New Year had many actors along.
King Khan (SRK) played smart moves for promotions of Happy New Year. Starting with “SLAM! The Tour” to HNY team visiting Google headquarters, Shah Rukh Khan had left no stone unturned for promotion of his film.
The grand promotion strategy was putting up live shows in several US cities by whole cast of HNY. Whole star cast of HNY also traveled to Houston, San Jose, New Jersey, London, Chicago, and Vancouver to perform live. This was an amazing smart move played by HNY Team to market HNY overseas.
Well, this was just the start, another promotional tactic was to introduce character names on Twitter by changing their real names. SRK to Charlie, Deepika Padukone – Mohini, Sonu Sood – Jag, Abhishek Bachchan – Nandu and others did the same.
Happy New Year team also made an official twitter handle for promoting their film and became the first Indian film cast to visit Twitter and Google headquarters at San Jose in USA.
Zee TV launched a dance reality show along with HNY team named “Dil Se Naachein Indiawaale” to promote their film. This was the first time when SRK have been judging any reality show.
Team of HNY also promoted their film on shows like KBC which is hosted by Amitabh Bachchan and the most lovable show on Indian television Comedy Nights With Kapil which is hosted by Comedy King Kapil Sharma 🙂
