Best known for playing Soorma Bhopali in Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra starer Sholay, Jagdeep has passed away at the age of 81.
Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jaffrey garnered huge popularity among the audience, using a stage name Jagdeep in over 400 films. He is the father of Bollywood actor Javed Jaffrey and TV director, Naved Jaffrey. Details about his demise are still scarce, according to Times of India.
The veteran actor has made his appearances in films like AVM’s Hum Panchi Ek Dal Ke, Bimal Roy’s Do Bigha Zamin, Guru Dutt’s Aar Paar, Ab Dilli Door Nahin, and K. A. Abbas’ Munna, just to name a few. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru reportedly gave Jaddeep his personal staff for the actor’s outstanding performance in Hum Panchi Ek Daal Ke.
