Facebook has lost 1 million daily users in North America in the last quarter along with Instagram and WhatsApp. Netizens trended the “Delete Facebook” hashtag on Twitter following the report.

“Meta, the company that owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, saw its stock plunge after-hours Wednesday after reporting a rare decline in its fourth-quarter profit due to a sharp increase in expenses,” a news outlet tweeted and a Twitter user responded, #DeleteFacebook avoid Meta, lets just be done with the whole bunch of cr-p.”

Actor Sacha Baron Cohen’s old tweet also went viral where he noted, “We don’t let 1 person control the water for 2.5 billion people. We don’t let 1 person control electricity for 2.5 billion people. Why do we let 1 man control the information seen by 2.5 billion people? Facebook needs to be regulated by governments, not ruled by an emperor!”

Another user wrote, “I see #DeleteFacebook is trending. It took me a long time to do it, but I deactivated my FB back in October and haven’t missed it since. I am so glad I finally bit the bullet.”

“I deleted my Facebook account in 2017 after their role in the 2016 elections, and haven’t looked back. It’s not hard to kick the habit,” one of the former Facebook users noted. “Their own execs limit the time their families spend on it because they know the harm it causes. #DeleteFacebook.”

A user responded to this tweet and wrote, “I deleted mine in 2018, after years of death threats from my bio mother. I’d get a message, would block that account, & she’d just create a new one. After repeatedly reporting the threats, & getting “just block the acct” from their T&S, I walked. The whole site is toxic.”

“It’s not even fun and interesting anymore,” a user wrote. “They censor and shadow-ban all over the place. My friend posted a lovely message about kindness that used hyperbole, and the fact-checkers actually marked it false information. You can’t make this up. #DeleteFacebook.”

I’m sure there are few tweets that supported Facebook instead of bashing it. However, I failed to find those tweets. If I do, will definitely mention it here. So, keep looking at this space for more updates.
