GROUND BEEF:

Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and poultry seasoning (this makes it taste like sausage). Break up the meat with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through 10 to 15 minutes.

SAUCE:

For the alfredo sauce, melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add 8 ounces of cream cheese and the garlic salt and whisk until smooth. Gradually whisk in the milk. Cook and stir until very smooth. Stir in the Asiago and Parmesan until smooth. The sauce should be the consistency of gravy at this point. If it is still too thin, whisk in up to 4 ounces of additional cream cheese or shredded mozzarella.

ASSEMBLY:

To build the lasagna, spread one-quarter of the sauce in the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Layer 4 of the noodles, half of the beef, and half of the spinach and mushrooms and spread with another one-quarter of the sauce. Add another similar layer of noodles, beef, spinach/mushrooms, and sauce. Add a final layer of noodles and spread with the remaining sauce. Sprinkle the mozzarella over top.

Bake until the sauce is bubbly and the lasagna is lightly browned for about 30 minutes. Let cool 5 or 10 minutes before cutting into squares to serve.

Yield: 8 Servings

Active Time: 30 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes

Ease of preparation: Easy
